Local San Antonio area stand-up comedian and television & radio sports broadcast veteran Gabe Farias has been a mainstay in the local business community for the last 30 years. Born and raised in the Southside of San Antonio, Farias is a product of McCollum High School in the Harlandale Independent School District. Farias is also the VP of Corporate Development & Public Affairs at Kellum Physician Partners
As a television broadcaster for Texas Sports Productions and MeTV, Farias serves as the host of the popular South Texas High School Football Game Day program. In addition, Farias is the sideline reporter for the highest-rated local high school sports broadcast - the hugely successful Saturday Night High School Football Showcase on MeTV and KSAT TV’s popular Big Game Coverage.
Currently, Farias serves as the Chairman of the Planning & Development Committee on the Brooks Development Authority Board. Additionally, Farias serves on the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) Board of Directors for the Mission Drive-In development area. Farias recently served as the the Chairman of the Texas Tri-County Chamber of Commerce Board - an area that covers Guadalupe, Bexar, and Comal Counties.
Professionally, Farias previously served as President & CEO of the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce from June 2012 to November 2017. In his time as President, Farias led the organization through great change and significant growth with the Chamber almost tripling in size during his tenure.
Prior to his work at the Chamber Farias served as the Chief of Staff and Director of Communications for District 3 City Councilwoman Jennifer V. Ramos. While working for Ramos, Farias was the lead on the Councilwoman’s SA KIDS GET FIT Health and Wellness Initiative, which included logo and brand creation, project web design and project implementation and execution. Farias was also the lead on the highly successful Southside Illegal Dumping Enforcement (SIDE) initiative, which earned praise from the San Antonio Express News Editorial Department.
Farias also served as the Director of Communication for former District 3 Councilman and current District 19 Texas State Senator Roland Gutierrez. While working for Gutierrez, Farias partnered with the Senator on creating the name, logo and all creative material for the Project CASA clean air initiative.
Farias has been also a small business owner serving as the President of the South Texas area PRMP Group of Texas, a local public relations and marketing firm.
Farias is married to the former Katie Ann Evans and the two have two small children, Niya Marie and Xzavier Gabriel. His spouse Katie is the current Vice President of the Southside ISD School Board.
